Leiden European City of Science 2022
Leiden will be the European City of Science in 2022: for one year, Leiden will be the European capital of science. Leiden2022 presents a year-long program for everyone with an open and curious mind, brimming with science, knowledge, art and skills. And at all levels: local, national and international. The scientific highlight of the year is the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) in July, the largest conference in Europe where all scientific fields are discussed.
The LUMC is a proud partner of Leiden2022. All kinds of public activities will be organized throughout the year, in which doctors and researchers from the LUMC and the public will interact and in which science will penetrate the city's capillaries. An overview can be found on this page.

EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF)
The 10th edition of the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) will take place from 13-16 July. This is the largest multidisciplinary scientific conference in Europe and will be held in Leiden this year. The overarching theme of ESOF2022 is: Crossing Borders, Engaged Science, Resilient Societies. With more than 120 sessions and more than 500 speakers from 60 countries, this promises to be a very interesting edition. ESOF2022 highlights seven thematic lines: Sustainable Environment, Cultural Identities and Transformation, Space for Science, Healthy Societies, Freedom and Responsibility of Science, Science and Business and Sustainable Academic Careers.. There will be panel discussions on 'Sustainable Cities' and 'Living in a World with Pandemics'.
