Dear reader,
How lovely that you’re taking a look at our website and at my page—the page of the President. My name is Loes Frank, I am 21 years old, and this year I have the honour of fulfilling the role of President. I am originally from Den Helder, but I have been living in Leiden for about 3 to 4 years now. Since my second year I have been active within the M.F.L.S., a choice that has brought me so many wonderful things: a warm second home, many close friendships, personal as well as professional growth, and above all, a place where I always feel appreciated. It is therefore a great honour to contribute to the Association this year as part of the 113th Board.
My active life within the M.F.L.S. began as a PR/Sponsoring Officer in the Introduction Committee “ElectrIC,” where, together with nine other amazing people, I helped organise the introduction days and the first-year weekend for all new students. I enjoyed it so much that I added another challenge: joining the Year Representation for Medicine year 3. All of this eventually sparked my interest in a board year—a special opportunity that I am now taking on between my bachelor and master’s programmes.
As President of the M.F.L.S. board, I am a point of contact for many different parties. I am involved in student well-being, act as the contact person for the Executive Board, and am in frequent contact with our members. In addition, I supervise several M.F.L.S. committees, and the master’s programme in The Hague—Population Health Management—also falls under my responsibilities. Together with the Secretary, I am ultimately responsible for creating and implementing our policy plan, and I ensure structure throughout our board year.
Finally, one of my most important responsibilities—and at the same time one of the most enjoyable parts of my role—is ensuring the functioning of our board itself! I regularly have one-on-one conversations with my fellow board members to see how they are doing, stay informed about everything, and keep an overview. This variety of tasks makes for a very fun and educational challenge!
If you have any questions or would simply like to chat, please feel free to email me or stop by the boardroom (K1-69). I’ll be happy to make you a cup of coffee or tea while we catch up.
Lots of love,
Loes Frank
