Dear reader,

How great that you’re taking a look at our website and my page! My name is Jeroen Korsmit, I am 21 years old, and this year I have the honor of fulfilling the role of chairman. I’m originally from Breda, but I’ve been living in Leiden for some time now. Since moving to Leiden, I have been active with the M.F.L.S., a choice that has brought a lot of good into my life. It has given me a warm second home, many close friendships, development both personally and professionally, but above all, a place where I always feel valued. It is a great honor for me to contribute to the Association this year as part of the 112th Board.

My active life with M.F.L.S. began as Member Weekend of the Introduction Committee ‘OlympIC’, where I, together with 9 other fantastic people, organized the introduction days and the first-year weekend for all new students. This committee was so enjoyable that I stayed on for 2 more terms, namely the Year Representation of Medicine year 3 and the Trip Committee. All of this led to my interest in a board year, a special opportunity that I am now taking up between my bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

As chairman of the M.F.L.S. board, I am a point of contact for various parties. I handle internationalization, am the contact person for the Board of Directors, and have frequent contact with the members. Additionally, I oversee several M.F.L.S. committees and my responsibilities also include the master’s program in The Hague: Population Health Management. Furthermore, together with the Secretary, I am responsible for determining and executing our policy plan and ensuring structure in our board year.

Lastly, one of my most important responsibilities and also one of the most enjoyable tasks of my role is the functioning of our board itself! I regularly have conversations with my fellow board members to see how things are going, to stay informed, and to maintain an overview. These varied tasks make for a very enjoyable and educational challenge!
