Hi dear M.F.L.S. members and other readers!

I, Ceddric, have the honour of being the Secretary of the 113th M.F.L.S. board next year. It’s something I’ve been looking forward to tremendously throughout the summer break and the handover period! Thankfully, the enthusiasm of my predecessors is one of the biggest reasons for that! Over the past two years, I completed the first two years of the Medicine bachelor’s programme, and I’ve been having an amazing time here in Leiden, at the LUMC, and of course within the M.F.L.S.! This board year is a perfect opportunity to give something back to the association that has made me feel so at home at the LUMC and beyond.

In my first two years I immediately became active within the M.F.L.S.—something you can actually do at any moment during the year or your studies. I started with LIMSC OC, immediately a large and long-term committee that works on a truly wonderful event. Fortunately, there are also smaller committees that would have suited my passionate attitude towards the M.F.L.S. just as well.

In the coming year, as Secretary, I will be responsible for all administrative matters, such as the website, the newsletter, all member administration, schedules, mail, the archive, and perhaps most importantly, our honorary members and members of merit. I also stay in touch with other very important people—namely all our members. In addition, all external communication, and of course communication to the members, is in my hands. Luckily, I love writing and talking to everyone, whether I know them or not. Miraculously, I also got exactly the right spot in the boardroom for that: by the door, precisely the place where everyone wants to stop by for a quick chat. Fortunately, the seven other board members can also enjoy chatting with anyone who drops by the boardroom or sees us somewhere in or around the LUMC!

Aside from my work behind the computer, in the archive, or in the boardroom, I also get to guide the Musical Committee and the Career Committee this year! I’m really looking forward to that, of course, and I’m very curious to see what we’ll be able to present to the rest of the M.F.L.S. at the end of the year.

Thankfully, my board year isn’t just made up of tasks due to the board. I can still enjoy spending time with my beloved 'Gilde'. And between all the responsibilities, I can still work, exercise, meet up with friends, go on holiday, and participate in various extracurricular activities. I also love exploring the different wine regions our planet has to offer, and I enjoy preparing delicious meals or baked goods to match the wine or simply as a treat for others.

Finally, I’m very excited to see what the coming year will bring and how we’ll be able to shape this year in our own way. Once again, I invite everyone to stop by the boardroom, grab a coffee, or simply take a break between tutorials.
